artist statement
Jennifer has been creative for as long as she can remember and the passion for painting spans four generations on both sides of her family, something which constantly inspires her. One of Jennifer’s ancestors Laura Muntz-Lyall was a highly regarded Impressionist painter, Elizabeth Wood Muntz exhibited with Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore, her Great Great grandmother attended the The Slade School of Art and her grandmother was a keen watercolour painter.
After graduating from Oxford Brookes University in 2009 with a degree in Contemporary Art Jennifer moved to London to work for Christie’s and Bonhams, before relocating back home to work for a local Auctioneers as a cataloguer and valuer.
Jennifer has been a practicing artist for the last fifteen years, balancing her career with raising a family and works from her home studio, a converted stable, in North Warwickshire. Jennifer specialises in rural landscapes and seascapes and uses primarily oils and acrylics on wood, linen and gesso panel.
Working gradually in layers Jennifer fuses classical and contemporary techniques with mark marking to create poignant, emotive landscapes.
Jennifer is particularly fascinated with the play of light within the landscape. You will often find a sun or a moon within her paintings, capturing the viewer and creating a sense of depth and calm.
